This trophy was made to commemorate Patrick Roy’s three Vezina-winning seasons.  Roy won the award in 1989, 1990, and 1992, all with the Montreal Canadiens.  Trophies, similar to this one, are given out annually to the winner of the Vezina Trophy, as well as for the other NHL awards.
