1970-71 Ed Giacomin Stick

This stick was used by New York Ranger goaltender Eddie Giacomin during the 1970-71 season.  Giacomin split time during the regular season with Gilles Villemure, playing in 45 games and compiling a 27-10-7 record, a 2.16 GAA, and a league-leading 8 shutouts.   In the playoffs, Giacomin finished with a 7-5 record and a 2.21 GAA, leading the Rangers to within one game of the Stanley Cup Finals. For their efforts, Giacomin and Villemure were awarded with the only Vezina Trophy of their career after giving up only 177 goals during the regular season.  Giacomin was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.
