Billy Smith wore this blocker during his Vezina-winning 1981-82 season.  In 1981-82, Smith had a league-leading 32 wins to go with a 2.97 GAA and .900 save percentage during the regular season, leading the Islanders to the Prince of Wales Trophy.  He followed that up, going 15-3 with a 2.52 GAA in the playoffs, leading the Islanders to their third of four straight Stanley Cups.  Billy Smith was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1993.
