1987-88 Grant Fuhr

Grant Fuhr wore this Edmonton Oilers jersey during the 1987-88 NHL season, including the Stanley Cup Finals.  Fuhr was known as the backstop for the run-and-gun Oiler dynasty teams of the 80s.  During the 1987-88 regular season, Fuhr played in a league-leading 75 games, going 40-24-9 with a 3.43 GAA and .881 save percentage.  In the playoffs, Fuhr led the Oilers to the Cup with an amazing record of 16-2, with a 2.90 GAA and .883 save percentage.  During Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, in which this jersey was worn, fog was building in Boston Garden, leading to tough playing conditions.  Late in the second period, with the score tied at 3, a power failure caused the lights to go out and the game was suspended.  The series moved to Edmonton and the Oilers finished the series, sweeping the Bruins for their fourth Cup in 5 years.  For his efforts, Fuhr was awarded the only Vezina Trophy of his career and finished second to Mario Lemieux for league MVP.  Grant Fuhr was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2003.
