1986-87 Ron Hextall Helmet

Ron Hextall wore this helmet and cage combo from the start of the season through January of 1986-87 campaign, his rookie year, for the Philadelphia Flyers.  He played in 66 games during the regular season, finishing with a 37-21-6 record, a 3.00 GAA, and a .902 save percentage, leading the league in wins and save percentage.  In the playoffs, Hextall carried the Flyers to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, but again the Flyers lost to the Oilers.  Despite the loss, Hextall was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.  The awards didn’t end there as Hextall was also awarded the Vezina Trophy, the only one of his career, and finished second to Luc Robitaille in the Calder Trophy race for rookie of the year.
