Gary “Suitcase” Smith donned this Chicago Blackhawks jersey while helping backstop the 1971-72 club.  He split time with Tony Esposito, playing in 28 regular season games.  Smith finished the regular season with 14-5-6 record and a 2.42 GAA.  He also played in 2 playoff games, going 1-1 with a 1.50 GAA.  For their efforts, Esposito and Smith were awarded the Vezina.  This was Smith’s only time winning the award.
