This silver platter was awarded to Jacques Plante for his first Vezina-winning season in 1955-56 with the Montreal Canadiens.  Plante finished the season with a 42-12-10 record in 64 games.  He finished with a 1.86 GAA to go with 7 shutouts.  Plante also led the Canadiens to the first of five straight Stanley Cups, going 8-2 with a 1.80 GAA and 2 shutouts in the playoffs and beating the Detroit Red Wings in the Finals.  This was the first of 5 straight Vezinas for Plante and 7 for his career.
